contain more than 70,000 square metres of teaching facilities, and research
laboratories are located on a 18,000 square meter area.

The University has one of
the most comprehensive libraries in Russia and a unique geological museum with
a rich mineralogical collection. It publishes about 1,000 journals annualy.

MSMU consists
of six main faculties which cover the general directions of mining: processing,
development of underground space, the faculty of coal mining and underground
construction, and the faculty of exploitation of non-ferrous and iron deposits.
Following is the list of areas of study and professional opportunities offered

Highly qualified teachers
supervise process of study at every stage. One may ask how to reach high
language proficiency which enables a foreign student to study further on basic
courses without any difficulties in Russian language comprehension. The methods
include Russian language classes combining with general subjects such as
mathematics, physics, engineering drawing (for technical specialties) chemistry
and biology (for medical specialties).)

Foreign students are
focused on specific vocabulary and improve knowledge obtained in secondary
schools in their home countries. Russian educational system is famous for excellence
in education, especially in fundamental and natural sciences, such as
mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology. Nowhere else a foreign student is
given an opportunity to obtain knowledge in these fields which are necessary
for future academic success.

known under the name of The Moscow Civil Engineering Institute (MISI).

MGSU is the leading higher educational
establishment of its type in Russia, one of the largest world’s centres of
building science and education.

Scientific and pedagogical schools of our University were founded by outstanding native scholars, architects and
builders like Academicians V.P. Obraztsov, V.A. Vesnin (President of the USSR Academy of
Architecture in 1938-1949 , collaborator of the Dneprovskaya Hydroelectric Power Station project), I.M. Rerberg (author of the Kiev Railway Station, the Central Telegraph and other projects of
Moscow buildings), I.G. Alexandrov (one of the authors of the GOELRO plan) and
many others.

The scientists of MGSU participated in
surveys, expertise, designing, construction and
reconstruction of the largest construction projects in different regions of Russia and abroad. The unique structures of the Saviour
Christ’s Cathedral and Manezhnaya Ploshchad Shopping Centre have been constructed under their
participation of late years,
the Gostinny Dvor Complex and the National Hotel have
been renovated, a new building of Sberbank and
many other structures have also been erected.

At the University an important significance
is added to development and introduction of the modern forms of tuition to
educational process. The
Student Society of Scientific
Research actively
functions at the University. Many students’
works have been awarded diplomas and bonuses
in Russia and abroad.

In its 80-year long history University has trained more than 80000 civil engineers, including
(since 1946) more than 2900 specialists for 97 foreign countries. The MGSU
Diploma is a reliable warranty to obtain a job in the leading State

Members of the Russian and International Academies of Science, 130 Doctors
and 700 Candidates of Science , 140
Professors and 600 Associate Professors. MGSU has the State Accreditation to
provide professional, surveying, design and engineering works for construction
programs. The University fundamental scientific library accounts more than
1 600 000 volumes both in Russian and foreign
languages, including more than 700 000 teaching aids.

MGSU enrolls foreign citizens on the basis of both bilateral intergovernmental
